A Spirit Following Me

October 14, 2010 by Rev

Hi Rev. I think I might know the answer to this question, but I’d like to better understand it. I just recently became a Christian in February, but before that I noticed there was what I believed to be a spirit that would follow me from apartment to apartment that always made me feel very uncomfortable day or night (typically, whenever I was alone). A “man” who would stand in the doorways of any room I happened to be in and watch me from there. He still sort of lingers in my current home, but less often and when I do get that strange “watched” feeling I’m simply uninterested in it. However I’m still not completely unafraid. At night (of course) when the rest of my family is asleep and I’m getting ready for bed, I’m uneasy again, and I still get that sense of someone standing in the doorway watching. What is it? Why does it watch me? When will it go away?

I believe this is a demonic spirit. Anything that would make you fear like that is not from God, but is evil. The Bible says, “Resist the devil and he will flee from you” – James 4:7. So all you have to do is resist him. You resist by speaking to the evil spirit and telling him to “get lost”. You have this authority because you belong to Christ. It would also be helpful to read Ephesians chapter 6 a few times times to learn about demonic activity. Also, make sure you’re not leaving any “windows” open for him to come in. I mean this in a spiritual way. Watch your life that you’re not participation in questionable things or else he’ll have the right to come in and bother you. No one is perfect, but be careful what your eyes are seeing and ears are hearing. Finally, as it says in Ephesians 6, “be strong in the Lord”. In others words, stay built up spiritually by reading your Bible, praying and talking to God and listening to spiritual music. Be a soldier! Hope this helps. God bless you and your family.
