I have a complex question to ask. It has to do with a beautiful young lady I met over the internet. We started out just chatting for hours and then I went and met her. I am Christian and so is she. I am now trying to find my way back to God because I backslid years ago. On my first visit we had sex which we know is wrong. Our bodies are the temples of God and we committed a serious sin by doing that. After we talked about it, we kept from having sex after that incident. However, she came to spend some time with me and we did it again. I know right from wrong and that it shouldn’t happen. I love this girl and we can talk about anything. We enjoy each others company, but our downfall is when we get too close and start to do stuff we know that’s ungodly. Today she went to church and when she came back she told me that if I was to be her husband I cannot defile her body. She says God told her so I need your insight on this matter. Thank you.
The bottom line is, you need to listen and do what she says. Sex is meant to be shared in a marriage relationship and if you want to honor God in this you’ll have to avoid temptation. You need to make a promise to each other not to get too close physically or be alone together in a house or apartment. This might sound extreme, but you already know how weak you can get. You need to have boundaries in place. God will honor you for this and bless your marriage if you do things His way. My daughter and her fiance made a promise to each other not to kiss until they were married and this worked for them. Their wedding was so beautiful when they kissed for the first time! I know this sounds extreme, but it worked. You need to honor what the Lord spoke to your girlfriend and show her you’re a man of God. You can change from being a backslidden Christian to a person who loves God more than anything. He loves you and has a plan for your life. You’re right about our bodies being a temple for God’s spirit. The Bible says, “Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body” – I Corinthians 6:19-20. God bless you!
