Why do Christians cry when they pray? Why do I cry when I pray? What’s happening when I don’t cry in prayer?
The reason Christians cry when they pray is for two reasons. First of all, there’s no doubt that prayer is an emotional experience especially when you’re talking to the living God. He is holy, just and loving. The second thing is that it’s not unusual to feel the Holy Spirit when you’re praying. The Holy Spirit is real and can be felt when you’re worshiping or communicating with God. This may cause a person to cry because they feel the peace and power of God’s presence manifested by the Holy Spirit. However, even if you don’t cry when praying, that’s okay. God hears and answers those prayers too!
Here’s a book I recommend on the subject of prayer:

In each of the 10 chapters, Tozer explains one aspect of hungering for God and ends with a prayer. |
