Does everyone who lives on this earth have the opportunity to find Jesus? If hell is waiting for those who reject Christ, then what about those people in the jungles somewhere who never hear about Jesus? Do they automatically go to hell? If so, then would God ever create someone only to know that they will go to hell when they die? I couldn’t imagine that happening, since Jesus paid the ultimate price to keep us all out of hell. Every person is treasured by God, right?
Everyone who has lived on the earth since the death of Christ has an opportunity to accept Him as their Savior. We know from the Bible that God will even send Christians to those who have never heard about Jesus (see Acts 10). This is also happening in our day through missionaries who are telling people about Jesus all over the world. If it should happen that someone doesn’t hear about Jesus, I’m sure God will judge rightly. The Bible says, “Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?” – Genesis 18:25. People are responsible for the “light” (knowledge) they have. What they do with the knowledge of God is their choice. They can make their own “gods” or choose to have a relationship with the living God.
The Bible teaches that God can be known through creation and there will be no excuse for not knowing Him. The Bible says, “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse” – Romans 1:20.
God would not create someone to destine them to hell. The Bible says, “He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance” – 2 Peter 3:9. Heaven or hell is a choice. Anyone who has a sincere heart to know the truth can find it. Jesus said, “you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” – John 8:32. Jesus also said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me” – John 14:6. God said, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart” – Jeremiah 29:13.
It’s true that Jesus paid the ultimate price to keep us out of hell and so we should do something about it by turning from our sinful lifestyle and live for Him. Jesus loves you so much that even if you were the only person on the earth, Jesus would have died for you. Every person is treasured by God, but they also have a choice to accept or reject His love.
It’s my prayer that you’ll come to know His love and have a personal relationship with Him.
