How would God treat someone when it came to the day of judgment and there was someone who desperately wanted to believe and lead as best he could a Christian life, but just found it difficult to have real faith?
Real faith comes from an experience known as being “born again”. This is a spiritual birth that takes place when a person accepts Jesus Christ as their personal Savior from sin. God doesn’t expect us to just hope He’s real or hope we’ll make it to heaven. Instead, He desires to have a real relationship with us now. As a result, He made a way for us to know Him so that we can know for ourselves He’s real. Our part is to mean business with God and seek Him with all our heart.
We must also come to God the right way. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me.” – John 14:6. We are separated from God because of our sinful and self centered life. However, Jesus died on the cross for our forgiveness and when you accept His sacrifice on the cross for you personally, then you can have access to God. He also reveals Himself to you as you diligently seek Him. So there’s no excuse not to have “real faith”. However, it’s also true that “real faith” follows “real commitment”, so it’s up to you!
Another question which troubles me is if God wants us all to be saved why doesn’t he create a few miracles and come and show us he is still there, if you know what I mean? If he did that then everyone would be a believer.
That may be true, but that’s not what God wants. He’s looking for people who will seek for Him with all their heart. God said, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart” – Jeremiah 29:13. He’s also looking for people who will humble themselves and admit they are in need of Gods forgiveness. These are people with a good heart who are willing to admit they are sinners. The Bible says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” – Romans 3:23. Finally, Jesus said that some people would refuse to believe even if they witnessed someone raised from the dead! (Luke 16:31)
