I Want to Go to Heaven

Reverend, I want to go to heaven, but I’m not sure if I am. I saw something on television called Countdown to Armageddon and something hit me. All of a sudden I prayed twenty Our Fathers every night and I’m very scientific so evolution clashes, but I really want to go to heaven to see my family when I pass.

No problem! You can see your family when you pass away because God made the way straightforward. If you ask Jesus to forgive you for all of your sins and show it by living for Him, then you can be saved. The Bible says, “If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord”, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved” – Romans 10: 9-10.

The requirement for heaven is all about having your sins forgiven and having a personal relationship with Jesus. Jesus said, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in” – Revelation 3:20. He wants to have a personal relationship with you. However, you must answer and open the door. He’ll never push himself on anyone. He will make Himself real to you as you seek Him so don’t be shy to talk to Him even though it might seem strange talking to someone you can’t see. However, He hears you!

In regard to evolution; it’s only a theory, not pure science. Science is a branch of knowledge dealing with a body of facts showing the operation of general laws. If you want to learn more about verifiable science check out the following web site at http://www.answersingenesis.org/

The battle of Armageddon is a Biblical fact. It will happen some day and neither you nor I will want to be here when it happens. It’s going to be a terrible time on the earth for all those who have rejected Christ. I’m glad it caused you to pray. However,  you don’t have to keep on saying the Lord’s Prayer every night although its okay you did showing that you are really serious. However, once you have asked Jesus to forgive your sins, the next step is to begin praying and reading the Bible. I recommend reading the gospel of John first, then the rest of the New Testament. Also, find a church that majors on the teaching and preaching of the Bible. God richly bless you!
