Dear Rev, I did not ask to be born. Why must I be chastised and judged for something Adam and Eve did? It is not my fault? As I understand it, when Jesus died all of the world’s sins and those who committed them were forgiven at his death. I understand good and evil and choose good over evil. I believe in John 3:16, but do not understand why I was born and my purpose here.
None of us asked to be born. However, we also aren’t victims. Instead, we’ve been given the same choice as Adam. That is, to obey or disobey God. We can choose to be forgiven or to do our own thing.
It’s true that Jesus died on the cross for all mankind, but it doesn’t mean everyone’s sins are forgiven. You have to ask for it personally and be truly repentant. This means to have deep sorrow for your sin and to turn from a sinful lifestyle. Once you’ve been forgiven, then you should show your appreciation by living for Christ. This means reading His word and doing what it says. No one is perfect, but we should strive to please God and walk worthy of being called one of His children.
As to why you were born and your purpose here. You were created to have a relationship with God. Your purpose is to enjoy this relationship daily and to worship God. God is looking for people who will love and worship Him of their own free will.
