I recently heard a preacher make a statement that a person needed to be sure he is saved. He stated that you had to know, that you know. What’s wrong with me? How can I know, that I know?
The preacher was right. You should know for sure that you are saved. God wants you to have this assurance. However, I’m wondering what you believe is necessary in order to get to heaven? – Rev.
Sir, I understand that God is God of everything. He sent his Son Jesus to die on the cross to save me from my sins. He was crucified on the cross and spent 3 days in hell before he was resurrected. His blood covers all my sin. I don’t know what else to say except I am still a sinner.
What you believe is correct. All you need to do now is make it personal. Since Jesus died and rose again, He is alive today and wants you to ask Him personally for forgiveness and to turn from your sin. Also, there’s a “Book of Life” which is in heaven and Jesus wants to write your name in it. All you have to do is ask Him. Then you should live for Him by doing what He said to do.
The assurance we have of our salvation or “knowing that we know”, is based on the truth of God’s word, not on our feelings. Our feelings can vary from day to day, but when we commit our lives to Christ, God’s word says we are saved. After that, we can enjoy a lifetime of personal fellowship with God, talking to Him and praying. In this way we build a relationship with God that becomes more real everyday.
