Dear Reverend, I understand what sin is and its consequences. Jesus said, “to look upon a women with lust is sin”. I think lusting is a sin, but only with feeling. I think the word tempting is using words without feeling, yet provoking the lust feeling to action? The action is the sin not the thought?
Jesus said, “But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart” – Matthew 5:28. It’s obvious that Jesus meant if you entertain sexual thoughts concerning a women you’re looking at, it’s the same as committing the act. We shouldn’t try to change the meaning in order to suit us. The truth is, we are sinful by nature and need God’s help with this. The Bible says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” – Romans 3:23. When a person becomes a born again Christian they receive a new nature that wants to please God. The Bible says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” – II Corinthians 5:17. This new nature struggles with the old, but by living in the power of the Holy Spirit we can learn to overcome sin. You can read more about it in the New Testament book of Romans chapters 7 and 8. God bless you!
