Dear Rev. Is it a sin to have sex before you are married? If so please tell me where in the Bible I can find it.
Sex is a gift from God that is to be reserved for marriage. It can be opened on your wedding day. The Bible says, “Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge” – Hebrews 13:4. Fornication is defined in the dictionary as “sexual intercourse between two persons not married to each other”. The Bible says, “Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband” – I Corinthians 7:2. Therefore, sex before marriage is fornication and fornication is sin. Please remember though, God can forgive a person for this or any other sin. The Bible says “for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” – Romans 3:23. If we ask Jesus Christ to forgive us, He will. That’s why He died on the cross. He loves everyone and wants to have a personal relationship with them.
