Dear Rev. I would like to know your thoughts on this subject. My wife and I are involved in a difference of opinion regarding sex based on something I observed recently. A couple were having sex at my workplace in the parking garage where they thought they were alone, but they were wrong. To make a long story short, my wife stated that she thinks this couple was wrong in God’s eyes because people should only have sex behind closed doors where they cannot be seen (i.e. motel, or tent) and there are no exceptions to this. I think that if you and your mate are anywhere that you cannot, or should not be seen and you decide to be intimate that that is OK (i.e. a beach, park, car, backyard, or secluded lot). What do you say? Are there any verses that you know of where God speaks of sex or intimacy that we can look up? My wife’s aunt once said to us that there was a verse in the bible that says anything that a woman and a man does with each other is okay with God, was she right?
Thank you for your question. With most men, sex is more about satisfying a sexual drive and privacy takes a back seat. No pun intended. 🙂 However, since sex is also about intimacy it obviously requires privacy. I’m not saying it has to be only in your own bed, but it’s not a public thing. Also, I know of no such verse in the Bible that says anything a man and a woman do with each other is okay. Instead, the Bible states it this way – “Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled” – Hebrews 13:4.
