Is Judgment Day on May 21, 2011?

May 19, 2011 by Rev

Is there any validity to Mr. Camping’s claim that the world will end May 21st, 2011? I am faithful, but this subject always gets me frustrated and a little on edge. I thought we weren’t supposed to know the time or to predict it. Why do people like Mr. Camping spread this type of information?

Why Mr. Camping is doing this I don’t know. I only wish he understood the harm he is doing vs. whatever “good” he thinks he’s doing. He is deceived when it comes to Biblical interpretation. The Bible clearly states no one knows the hour or the day when this event will occur (Matthew 24:36). For some reason he can’t accept this simple statement from Jesus. I’m sure there’s a lot of people who don’t know Mr. Camping also predicted the coming of Jesus in 1994. – Rev.

Lately, I have been seeing billboards about May 21 saying that it is judgment day. I am a Christian myself and I read parts of the Bible. In the Bible it says that we will not know. Also, that Jesus will come like a thief at any hour of any day. I do not know what to believe and I’m scared. Please tell me what is right.

You are right, the Bible says no one knows the hour or the day when Jesus will return and the Judgment Day to follow. Jesus said, “No-one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. – Matthew 24:36. There is no reason to be concerned.

The Bible also says “Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief” – 1 Thessalonians 5:2-4. Therefore, Jesus’ coming will not be like a “thief in the night” for Christians because we already know he is coming!

The most important thing is to ready for Jesus coming at any time. The way to be ready for His coming is to have a personal relationship with Him. You can have this by turning from sin and accepting Him as your personal Savior.
